Job Purpose: This position will Perform accounting functions related to, but not limited to account receivable, accounts payable, fund disbursements, account reconciliations.  The successful employee will be self-motivated and take the initiative to ask questions to increase efficiencies. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy are critical. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Accounts Receivable Functions 

  • Daily processing of credit card payments and maintain receipts and reporting 
  • Daily remote bank deposits 
  • Respond to customer account inquiries (reprint invoices, email or fax invoices and statements) 
  • Collection of past due customer accounts 
  • Investigate and resolve open issues and credits.  
  • Back up for billing NWGF Division 

 

Accounts Payable Functions 

  • Review AP invoices for proper system entry 
  • Record all AP transactions including managing proper coding and invoice authorization 
  • Review employee expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and proper coding 
  • Process weekly AP check runs 
  • Set up and maintain vendor files 
  • Investigate and resolve open invoices and credits.  Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements 
  • Back up accounts payable entry for other divisions. 

 

General Accounting/Administration Functions 

  • Assist in month-end closing 
  • Perform month end account reconciliations, write-offs, adjustments, and other tasks as assigned 
  • Process outgoing mail 
  • Clear outstanding checks to assist with Bank reconciliations 
  • Work collaboratively with the accounting team to ensure day to day accounting objectives are achieved. 
  • Identify opportunities to change and improve the accounting process. 
  • Maintain appropriate file retention (both paper and electronic) over the fiscal year so, at the audit time, supporting documentation can be gathered quickly. 
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit workpapers. 
  • Process yearly 1099’s for Divisions 
  • Update policies and procedures as new efficiencies are established 
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures both accounting and administratively that support the office in terms of internal controls, ethical business practices. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Two Year Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures is required
  • Some accounting background or experience a plus 
  •  Accounts Receivable experience and Accounts Payable experience preferred 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word 
  • Must have strong communication and analytical skills, and a professional telephone/email manner 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Personal and professional integrity of the highest order 
  • Self-driven and able to work independently 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
