Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital | St. Paul, MN

The Challenge

The General Contractor needed a subcontracting glazing partner that could meet the unique demands for Minnesota’s first standalone mental health hospital, meeting demanding specs for human impact resistant glass and glazing. The project faced several challenges: the glass had to withstand high-impact situations. Coordinating specialized materials with multiple vendors while maintaining compliance with the architectural vision added complexity. The GC needed a partner who could meet these technical demands while providing guidance, flexibility, and efficient execution.

Our Solution

Brin stepped in to provide a full-service glazing solution that balanced both safety requirements and project efficiency. We collaborated closely with the GC and Architect to ensure all glazing solutions met the stringent human impact ratings required for this specialized facility. Leveraging our long-standing relationships with vendors like Kawneer and Old Castle, we procured the precise interior and exterior glass and framing solutions necessary to meet the project’s unique specifications. Our team also provided expert guidance on product selection and installation methods to ensure long-term durability and compliance with all safety standards.

Results Accomplished

Brin’s extensive fabrication capabilities allowed us to pre-glaze windows and pre-build frames off-site in our facility, significantly reducing the time and complexity of on-site installation. This approach minimized disruption to the construction schedule, streamlined coordination with subcontractors, and accelerated overall project timelines. Beyond efficiency, our work ensured the building would provide a safe, durable, and high-quality environment for patients and staff—meeting both the functional and aesthetic goals of the project.

Why was Brin Glass best suited for the work?
