The Challenge
This project presented a unique set of challenges that required a partner with both technical expertise and problem-solving agility. The general contractor needed a trusted subcontractor to manage two critical phases: replacing spandrel glass by upgrading from outdated ¼” glass to a modern 1″ solution, and carefully removing and replacing three curtain wall systems. Beyond the sheer scale of the work, the age of the building introduced additional complexity—no original blueprints or drawings were available to guide the process, leaving significant engineering gaps to overcome. Success would demand precision, creative thinking, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining the building’s character while enhancing its performance.
Our Solution
Brin partnered with the project team in a true design-assist capacity, navigating the complexities of an older building with no existing blueprints or drawings to guide the work. Leveraging our depth of expertise, we closed engineering gaps and developed custom solutions that aligned seamlessly with the building’s character. At the same time, we honored the project’s design intent, providing practical and feasible installation methods that ensured both accuracy and efficiency.
Results Accomplished
Through close collaboration with our general contracting partners, the Brin team delivered this project on time and with exceptional quality. Leveraging our deep industry expertise, we successfully navigated potential installation challenges tied to the building’s age and the complexity of the upgrade solutions. The result: precise installation of 101 glass units and 8,500 square feet of curtain wall—completed efficiently, with craftsmanship that reflects Brin’s commitment to excellence.
Why was Brin Glass best suited for the work?
This project demanded more than standard installation—it required a partner with proven expertise, creative problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to unknowns. With no existing blueprints, complex system replacements, and the challenges of upgrading an older building, Brin’s design-assist approach and depth of industry knowledge made us the ideal fit. Our ability to engineer custom solutions, honor design intent, and collaborate seamlessly with the general contractor ensured the project was delivered with precision, efficiency, and lasting quality.
