Simpson Shelter | Minneapolis, MN
The Challenge
The Simpson Housing Shelter project in Minneapolis presented a unique set of demands: a highperformance building envelope that could support both aesthetic appeal and long-term durability, while also meeting strict safety and fire code requirements. As a facility serving vulnerable populations, the shelter needed to be welcoming, secure, and resilient — all within a tightly managed construction schedule and budget.
Our Solution
Brin Glass was selected to deliver a full-scope glazing package, including the exterior curtainwall and storefront systems, as well as interior fire-rated glass installations. Our team collaborated closely with the general contractor and design team to engineer and install systems that balanced transparency, thermal performance, and safety. We coordinated logistics and sequencing to ensure smooth integration with other trades, minimizing disruption and maintaining momentum throughout the build.
Results Accomplished
The completed shelter features a striking façade that enhances natural light and visibility, while the interior fire-rated glass provides critical protection without compromising design intent. Brin Glass delivered all components on schedule and within budget, helping the project meet its opening timeline and community impact goals. The result is a facility that is both functional and inspiring — a safe haven built to serve for generations.
